  1. does anyone know how i can stop Windows XP (Home Edition) from bringin the search box up everytime I doubble click on a folder?? when I right click on a folder Search... appears in bold as the mandatory command to take when opening a folder.

  2. Unless you have customized Explorer you should have a row of buttons across the top and one of the buttons is labeled "Search". Clicking that button brings up the Search View. One of the buttons is labeled "Folders", this brings up the folder view. (The one you probably want). Getting Explorer to remember your preferences sometimes is a pain. Try closing Explorer, after it's setup your way, with File - Close. This should save your preferences.

    If you don't have that 'Row Of Buttons' in Explorer you can 'Right Click' on the toolbar and choose "Standard Buttons"

    Click "Tools, Folder Options, View, Reset All Folders" will put Explorer back to Windows Default view.

  3. done all that and I had the folders in titles view mode and I double clicked on the folder and I'm still getting search window popping up.
