I have some tv show mpegs that i downloaded but they are pretty dark unless i adjust them with windows media player. Is there any way to adjust the shows brightness level permanetly by running it thru an encoder or something? Thanks for the help.

Are you going to be burning these files to watch on your home dvd player?

I will be converting them to vcd format to watch on my home dvd player once the brightness levels are adjusted.

What you should do first is burn a sample on cdrw and see how it plays first on your dvd player cause on a monitor it can look much darker than the tv and if you lighten it too much it will look way too light on tv.If the picture is still too dark when seen on tv then you can re-encode thru tmpgenc and use simple color correction filter which lets you set the gamma and brightness and contrast settings which ever you need.
