  1. Are you unable to convert a DVD file from a DivX or AVI File in excess of 3.99 GB??

    I may have the answer! If you are using Windows XP that you have upgraded from Win 98 onwards then the File System on your hard drive could be the problem. Older versions of windows such as 98/ME use a file sytem called FAT32 and the maximum allowed file sie is 4GB minus 1 byte (3.99GB) and if you have upgraded to Windows XP then it will keep this file system.

    To get around this problem you would have to format your hard drive and do a clean install of XP using the NTFS file system ( NT File System) , this will allow you to create files larger than 4GB.

    What you have said about converting to NTFS with regards to having files larger than 4Gb is correct. However, it is NOT necessary to do a reformat and fresh install in order to have NTFS on you system. Win XP contains a utility called "convert". This utility will take your current file system and convert it to NTFS. Works just fine. It is not the fastest utility around but it does exactly what it says.
    However, be warned once you convert to NTFS there is no going back to FAT/FAT32 without a reformat and fresh install.
    For those less than convinced of M$ utilities it would be wise to backup your irreplaceable files just in case Murphy is looking over your shoulder.

  3. Thanks edsmith. my apologies....coz I need to format and reinstall I just automatically put this in my post. I have tried the convert to NTFS function and it worked a treat.

    To do this;

    Click Start and Run and type Convert X: /FS:NTFS - where X is the drive.
