I have an RCA DRC8000N and it has a USB port. Does anybody know if I can hook up my computer and my standalone player and record data that is from my computer onto a dvd in my recorder?

The manual says that it is compatible with USB 1.1 mass storage devices. I was just wondering if anybody has tried it.

No, but it sounds like--if it would work, you could DL file(s) to a portable USB HD, unhook it from the PC, rehook it up to the recorder, and have the recorder "pull" the files in. Not sure about that though.

ya that sounds like it would pull video from a harddrive, or maybe a camcorder with USB.
I seriously doubt that they included support to hook up to a PC for burning files.
ESPECIALLY burning anything other that video files. -
The USB input is designed for playback of MP3 and JPEG files via a card reader.

usb would never be able to handle the data stream for any quality video you'd be putting to dvd, so i'd say no.

ICBW, but I thought USB 1.1 was 12 Mbit per sec. This would still be ok (as long as it could sustain it) since max DVD is 9.8 Mbit per sec.
Maybe it requires USB 2.0 (400 Mbit per sec)?
Maybe it's not gonna do it in realtime?
