I'm trying to play a movie, when I go full screen it gets a little too blurry for my taste, but I can go about 75% of screen and it looks good. The problem is I don't want anything else to show behind the movie. That is I want the whole screen to be black except for the movie. Does anyone know a way to get your background to be black? I don't even want the start bar to show at all. Thanks for any ideas.

You actually didn't mention whether you were watching on a settop or computer, but from what you said, it's obvious that you're using a computer. So...
DO use the full screen mode, but
before doing so, reset your screen resolution to something smaller.
e.g.: 1024x768 --> 800x600, or 800x600 --> 640x480
Otherwise, you're going to have to find a different DVD-player application that specifically supports user-adjustable border/background.
Good luck,

Use Mediaplayer Classic in fullscreen mode then use the number keypad controls to zoom in and out to whatever size you want.

Remove the desktop wallpaper and set the color to BLACK, move all your desktop icons to the middle of the screen and they will be blocked by the running application.
