Couldn't decide which topic this cam under so, here it is.
Is there anyway of removing layers from video files. By this I mean text that appears over the video. I have several home video's that were encoded for me before I got involved in it myself. Some of the scenes have captions that come up, which I now think are really tacky. Is there anyway that I can remove them so that I can re-encode the movies.

If it's part of the video frame, no. Well, you could crop the video, but you could lose a lot of the picture that way.
If it's a DVD say, and the captions / subtitles are produced by the player, then that is very easy.
Could you elaborate on what the your source is ?
