I am having problems when "capturing" from an ADVC since a few file is created every 15 minutes of "capture" with Win DV and every 9 minutes with ScenalyzerLive.
I have been told this is due to needing DirectShow capture and avi files without a practical filesize limit.
My question is, what should I be doing?
Type-1 avi or Type-2?
Also, in WinDV, what do the following do:
Discontinuity treshold
Max AVI size
Every N-th frame
Thanks

I use WinDV to capture from my ADVC50 - and have the config set as-
Type 2
Discontinuity Threshold set to 1
Max AVI size - 22500 ( 15minutes)
Every Nth frame - 1
This will create a new file every 15 minutes, but will play consecutive files back without any perceived break.
If you increase the Max AVI number, then this should allow any single file to be extended (add 1500 for each additional minute) - not sure what the max size is.
Not sure what ' discontinuity threshold ' means - but it seems to be OK on 1 ! -
In ScenalyzerLive, check your settings:
file>options>capture. Then select "unlimited" for max avi file size.
also select "no scene detection"
Above settings should give you a single file for whatever time you cap up to the limit of your HD space (13gig/hr)
Usually best to use type 2 DV-AVI, Most authoring apps need same.
