  1. Hi,

I'm looking for a utility that would give me an alert when I have a phone call while I'm in the internet.

    Thanks.

  3. Thank you slimmx.

My modem and ISP are v.92 compliance and I have call waiting from the phone company. I can't believe I have spent like 4 hrs. looking for a piece of software that would alert me of an incoming while I'm on the internet.

All I had to do was to update the driver of my PCTel modem and that took care of my need. Now I can get phone calls while on the internet and the new drivers put in hold the internet connection for more than 3 minutes while I talk on the phone. This is great!

I had a box before named catch-a-call (similar to the one you suggested me) that would give me a buzz while in the internet but would induce lots of noise on the phone line that was a pain when talking on the phone.

    I'm a happy camper now.

WOW. I never knew that you can accept calls while being online without one of those little boxes.
I still don't understand how you did it.

"My modem and ISP are v.92 compliance and I have call waiting from the phone company."

    What is v.92?

    "PCTel modem "

Also is this are regular 56k modem or does it have a feature that allows you to do what you did?

That would be great to know since I have friends who are on 56k and they can never be reached cause the phone line is always busy.

  5. What is v.92?
    Check over here
    http://v92.com/

    What is PCtel?
PCtel is the company that makes the chipset for some modems
    http://conexant.com/support/pctel_support.html
    http://www.pctel.com

And yes, it is a regular internal 56k modem, but it has to be v.92 not v.90

Keep in mind that in order for the feature to work you have to have an ISP that supports v.92, the modem has to be v.92 compliant and on your phone line you have to have the call waiting feature.
