  1. Every time I try to load an .AVI file into Virtual Dub I get the following error message: "One of the video codecs installed in the system modified the video format passed to it by VirtualDub. This indicates a codec bug that may cause the Windows video codec system to malfunction". Any help/ideas that you could offer would be greatly appreciated!

  3. One of the .AVI files I am trying to load is an XVID. I have the proper codecs installed (atleast GSpot says as much). Just as an aside, in the Comments/Metadata section of GSpot is says Code: JUNK, Name: ASCII in junk chunk, Contents: VirtualDub 18121...does this help at all?

    Thanks in advance,

    Chris

well you dont even have xvid isted in your list above -- you may want to load up on the latest version. also -- try to avoid codec packs in the future.

it also says "DIVX DivX Decoder Filter ** Codec not registered " , whihc generally indicates a problem there ..

    or

you may be better off to just install ffdshow - which will decode xvid and divx files ...

  5. First off thanks for your responses. I can play the original .AVI's normally with Real Player or Media Player well enough so there must be XVID codecs installed. I also already have ffdshow installed as well. The problem only occurs (that is the error message only arises) when I try to load them into VDub. Any further ideas?

I think installing the latest Xvid codec is still worth looking into. If it doesn't work, at least you can eliminate that as being your problem instead of doing so without even trying.

  8. Thanks again for all of your suggestions. It appears that simply downloading the newest XVID codec solved the problem thus far.

    Thanks again,

    Chris
