Apex AD1200 problem

We have an Apex AD1200 that we purchased in August of 2003.......Since then we've been watching vcd's and svcd's problem free......The other night we popped in an svcd and it played for 2 mins and froze......I unplugged the dvd player for 30 secs to try and reset it and that seemed to work but then the movie froze after 7 mins........tried to reset again but it didn't work it keeps reading No Disk.........even on movies that worked error free in the past. Should I try flashing the firmware or is there another solution.........Please Help!
