I don't have one of these yet but I am looking at getting one very soon. If you have a VCR with a time base corrector in it...do these types of units allow you to pass a signal through...ie a Laserdisc player, and make use of the internal TBC and other circuitry to clean up the signal?
I'm mainly wondering if this will clear up the rainbow effect I get in some scenes when trying to convert Laserdisk to DVD. It's not a big deal but I'm curious if these units will do that or not.
Looking at the following VCRs
JVC HR7600U
Mits U80 (does this actually have a TBC in it?)
Sony
I guess while on the topic...does anyone have a list of VCR's that do have TBC's in them...I'm definately in the used market here and alot of the stuff I'm seeing do not have specs available anymore, so its rather hard to tell what they do exactly.
Would I be correct to assume that any VCR that has a digital memory or can do special effects (strobe colour adjustment etc) would contain a TBC of some kind?

I read on another thread that using it as a pass through will not work. It's only for the tapes.
