Capture (using a capture card) , convert (using an mpeg encoder), author and burn. All covered in the green sections over there <-<-<.

In my opinion the easiest way to go from VHS to DVD (especially for someone without any experience) is to use a set top DVD recorder. Don't say you weren't warned as the Capture-Convert route can be a difficult process to learn.

Now that's not a surprise, an electronics salesguy that doesn't know anything about computers.

  4. I'm using my video in on my graphics card.
Running my vcr vid out > graphics card vid in (composite)

    Sound into line in...

I'm following the guide for my Geforce 4 in the cap section but you can apply it in other areas.
I like it a lot so far.
As for burnign to dvd...you'll need to just re-encode it and then author a dvd.
Take one step at a time....first thing you need to worry about is getting the vhs into your computer.

If you don't have anything like vivo on your graphics card ..a simple solution would be a dazzle or other type of unit you can go buy right now at any electronics store.
I have't used them but seems simple enuf.
    Just an idea....
Also depends on whether you want more..liek do you want to capture TV etc....
    It your world really...

  5. You can use Pinacle PCTV encoding in DVD mode, the encode file is quite good, the author it with dvdlab for example, and that's all. The PCTV card cost around 60 euros. It is an easy way.
