  1. I needed to capture some video for a school project and edit it in Adobe Premiere Pro. I know the easy way is to simply capture to AVI, but my PC drops ALOT of frames. I could try to fix it, but I only have a few days to do this. So I will capture to MPEG 2.

I read some where that there is a program that can create a small AVI reference file from MPEG 2 video that can be used for editing, so there is no need to have to convert it to AVI first. I had looked for it, but can't find it. Premiere says it accepts MPEG 2 video, but when I play it in the preview screen, its all blocky and wierd, though audio is normal. Is this a normal response from Premiere or is something wrong with my PC? What is the best program to convert to AVI from Mpeg?

  2. If I were you, I would look to get the dropping frames fixed. That is a SURE sign that simething isn't working the way it should. I am willing to bet that if you continue with the MPEG2 route, you won't get any further - some other brother of the bug will clobber you really soon . . .
