  1. Having an interesting (and annoying) problem in DVD workshop. Have tried the following methods to create a DVD with home video:

-MPEGII (audio and video), burning directly through DVD workshop
-MPEGII (audio and video), created ISO and burnt with Nero
-MPEGII (audio and video), created VOB files and burnt with Nero
-MPEGII with AC3 (after ripping the audio to MP2 and converting to AC3) burnt with DVD workshop.

All of these versions worked on my Sony DVP-NS715P, but none worked on my Toshiba TV/DVD. I used 4 different -R media, all of which have worked on the Toshiba before. The wierd part, the Toshiba will read the exact same disc when written to a DVD+RW. We will be sending this to family, so I'm obviously concerned about compatibility. Any ideas?

  2. perhaps your toshiba deck cannot read dvd-rs. Some dvd players (in rare cases) cannot do such. Take a look at the dvd player list (on the left) on this site and find your model number. It just may not be able to play dvd- or + r disc. The rw have a more reflective bottom and this may be the reason why your player can read that and not the regular type.

  3. Actually, I have been able to read all 4 of the -R media brands in that player before. I'm pretty sure that's not it, but thanks...
