  3. Hmm....right. I guess I shoulda been more specific. =What do you watch that has been ditigally encoded so that you can watch it thru your computer, TV, and any other equipment that just happens to be able to play videos (or music!) on it?

  4. Mostly television shows, like Dark Angel, Buffy, south park, freakazoid, charmed, etc.

  5. Should be an interesting topic if lots of people respond.

I burn all my stuff to VCD's (mostly standard VCD, but some XVCD's and SVCD's also). Being married and with child the shows below reflect the whole family's viewing pleasure.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer (have all 100 episodes on VCD).
    Angel
    Stargate SG1
Survivor I & II (and the UK survivor )
    Star Trek: Voyager
    Star Trek: DS9
    Batman Beyond
Batman and Superman: The Animated Series
    Xmen
    Xmen-Evolution
    Dungeons and Dragons (old cartoon)
    Spiderman
    Assorted movies.
Family Videos (captured from VHS or from Digital Camcorder)

    That about sums it up.

We watch everything on the big screen TV with a Pioneer 343 DVD player. Can't stand watching them on the PC.

I capture my videos with my Radeon AIW card. Some things I get right off the air live, others I record with my DirecTivo unit and then capture later. (By the way, the BlessTiVo program that allows you to add a second drive to your TiVo..... I wrote that )

OR, how about, what are you burning to VCD/XVCD/SVCD?

    Quote Quote
  9. Well, as a lot of people here, I put my home videos on VCD (actually SVCD) that can be shared (watched) with family members. They are interested because they are in those videos. It's a much more durable media with random access to the video clips we want to watch. With movies on CD, we can bring to family parties for watching together a few video clips that are demanded on the spot.

Besides that, I watch lot of interesting TV shows, movies recorded by my Tivo box. BTW, GREAT THANKS to Belboz, the author of BlessTivo. (also BTW, I am one of the many who design drives for the Tivo box, newer drives are MUCH quieter and have much higher capacity).

I just started out a few weeks ago but for now I'm taking japanese Sailor Moon episodes from LD source, adding subtitles and burning them to VCDs. Mainly it was for my own collection but I'm trying to spread them around: http://adamrulz.com/sailormoon/

Everything my parents ask me to "capture" in UK, as German TV is quite frustrating for them. Thanks to the size and weight of the CD's my postage expenses have fallen dramatically (used to have to tape to VHS).

  14. I guess I should say what I have, right? =)
Well, I mostly watch anime from my computer. I don't really bother to burn them to a vcd or whatever, seeing as how it would be weird to watch it in front of my family in the living room, and besides, most of the time I watch my dvds and stuff on my comp, hehe.

  15. Movie trailers. I also download web only short movies- sometimes music videos and with the trailers make a 74 min disc four times a year.
    Yes, archive certain homemovies.
I won't rip DVD movies because I have too many hobbies as it is. Besides, I'll wait for DVD recorders.

Used to watch TV-shows capured with Hauppauge PVR (or what it was, it was long time ago) but then had enough with it as it didn't produce in-synch video streams even what i did.

Now mainly watching Divx to SVCD's and edited VCD's from various sources.

  21. SEINFELD, FUTURAMA ...

i recently downloaded tooLAME, but i've no clue how to use ... there's no execution file ...???

    by the way,
why do many people avoid interlaced video?!? as i think to understand, it allows a framerate of 50/60 fps on TV, or am i wrong !?!
and TV-captured material is half the full resolution (576/480) when deinterlaced... so why deinterlacing and not capturing the half resolution (288/240)?

...i really do favor Cinemacraft (good quality and awesome speed)now here's my question - can anybody tell me if there is a possibility to have an interlaced mpeg2 video which is encoded with CCE SP 2.62 ?

i'd like to produce XSVCDs --> PAL 704*576-25fps(50Hz)
...or is it better to have a resolution of 480*576 at same bit rate ???

thanx in advance for (almost) any comments!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. Hey,

I am curently recording Star Trek Voyager, my favorite TV show... I record direct to Mpeg-2 and then I chop the 1 hour video into 6 portions using TMPGENC12h

I produce SVCDs that luck perfect on a regular tv, and even look OK, but not that great, on our 61inch tv!!!

  23. I watch mostly tv series. For movies, dvd is the way to go. My standard vcd sets are Seinfeld, Friends, Family Guy, and Simpsons. My girlfriend doesn't really enjoy the porn, but what the hell. Porn! Also a shitload of rented dvd(now svcd's), that I didn't really care for, so I didn't buy them on dvd.

Anime and TV series mostly. Law and Order and the Drew Carey Show. I'm really debating about ripping DVDs because I'd really just rather record movies directly to tape since I'm going to watch the whole thing if I do. I think I'll also wait or DVD recorders to adopt standards and prices to go down.
