  1. I dont understand why is the audio ahead of the video only on the DVD,however it is OK to watch the movie in the Divx.Frustating........

While opening the file in Virtua Dub it says:
Virtua Dub has detected an improper VBR audio blahblah..
This may introduce up to 8500 ms of skew blahblah.....

    Oh God!

Do you mean you converted a DVD into Divx or the other way around?

Virtual Dub gave the error message I posted before.

Maybe you don't understand....but Unless we know what steps you took to get it to DVD it is almost impossible for us to help. How did you convert?..What programs you used etc...would be helpful.

  6. Because the audio is VBR. That's why it's out of synch. Media players compensate for this but it's nearly always been a problem on conversion.

You need to save the audio as an uncompressed wav from virtualdub and feed that as the audio input to whatever conversion program you use.

  7. Thanks for the attencion.I will explain better.

1-Convert the Avi to m2v using Tmpeg enc
2-Burning the DVD with Sonic My DVD

*I open every archive with Virtual Dub,however most of them I get the message I posted before.Yeah, when there's 0 ms of skew,I can use the Save Wav to extract the audio and them reenconde with Tmpeg. However many of the files have values diferent from 0 like 8700 ms.When that happens the procedure above wont work and the audio will still be out of synch.Almost all the time the Audio is 2-3 seconds ahead of the video and I can't synch it.I've read many faqs, downloaded a lot of programs but none of the procedures were succesful. So anything, anything you guys have I will listen and try.

  8. Are you just saving wav or uncompressed pcm wav from virtualdub?

    Makes a difference.

  9. Well,After the file is opened I click on SAVE WAV(it says the files will be extracted from the original Avi and saved to the HD as an wav.I did not understand what you said after.

  10. Right. I'm assuming that the audio in these avi's is VBR mp3 which is causing the synch problem. To get rid of this you need to create a true uncompressed wav file. Just saving wav will in fact only save as mp3 with a file extension of wav (look at the file size at the will be a clue).

So what you need to do is when you've load the avi in Vdub go to the audio menu>full processing>conversion. Then choose the uncompressed pcm option. Then you save wav. If you look at the resulting file you'll see that it's much larger than the save wav(mp3) you were doing before.

  11. Thanks in advance for your attencion man.
However i did not understand something:

    audio menu-full processing-conversion(OK)

I did not see any option of umcropessing pcm?

The options are Sampling Rate 8000-48000,etc...
    Precision
    Channels
    integral convertion-high quality?

  12. Try this: Load the original file in VirtualDub. Click on the play button and note if the audio is in sync throughout the file. If it is not in sync then either put in a positive number or a negetive number in Interleaving Audio Skew Correction to make it sync. (exa. 1000 = 1 sec. -1000 = -1 sec.) Click audio full processing mode, compression <no compression>PCM, video - direct stream copy, then save the AVI as a new file. The audio will be uncompressed and interleaved using your audio delay correction, and the video direct stream copied (no change). Encode this file to MPEG2 in Tmpgenc. Should fix it.

  13. Sorry - meant 'compression' NOT 'conversion'.

If it's not out of sync when playing in VD then the problem may be from it being vbr mp3. I would then do as suggested above and set audio to - full processing mode, Compression <no compression>PCM, and save the WAV to a file. Load the original video file in TMPGEnc but replace the audio with the PCM file, then encode.

    Good luck.
