  1. I would like to create a slide show on DVD starting from single jpeg camera images. I'm interested on quality more than special effects(transition, audio background ecc.)
    I've got some tools (jpeg2yuv, mpeg2enc, mplex ..)
Can somebody indicate me exactly how to use these tools to obtain the goal.
    Thanks

You may have software to do this that came with your DVD writer. What software did you receive with it?

  3. Unfortunately I received only a reduced version of B'5.
I the past I authored some VCD with VcdEasy, but unfortunately there isn't any DVDEasy at proesent.
Using VcdEasy I learned something and I investigated on the tools I mentioned.
It seem's that most of DVD authoring sw deals with movie sequences not with still images.

  4. if you want to make a dvd with a menu and burn it all in one program then the easiest program I've used would probably be Sonic MyDVD.

If you are wanting to generate an Mpeg2 file with DVD specs to import into a different authoring program then PhotoDex ProShow Gold is AWESOME for that. Veeery simple to use and makes a quality show.

MyDVD and Ulead MovieFactory will both do it as well as most of the movie editing software like Studio 8. It is possible to do it with Nero as well. There are also a lot of dedicated slideshow programs like Ulead PictureShow. I use MemoriesOnTV ($50), it lets you put video in with the slides and has zoom and pan for slides.

You could use Windows Movie Maker 2 and export it to a DV-AVI and then use another program to convert it to MPEG2 and burn in a DVD authoring program.

DVD-Lab has a slideshow option buillt in to the authoring package. I can't comment on it since I've never used it, but if you want an all in one with no fancy effects, that would be worth looking at. Download trial version without having to pay for it too.

  8. Picture files can be used as sources for almost all video editters. I'm sure if you buy any program then someone here could help you use it to create your picture DVDs.

I use a free program called Slide Show Movie Maker (available in the Tools section there at the left). Just import your pics, and "render".

It does have an extra step: it only makes an AVI, which needs to be converted to MPEG (I use TMPGenc)...but I have been very happy with it. I have never tried making slideshows with DVD-Lab, but I do use DVD-Lab to author the "movies" to DVD...

    Just a thought...

  10. I've tried several programs for making slideshows and the best I've found is Ulead VideoStudio. You can create a photo slideshow that can have custom background music and/or sounds, text, effects, video clips, voice overs, overlays, etc. Makes a slideshow as complicated as you want.

    Good luck.
