After searching on Google for hours I have yet to find a guide that will allow me to make backups of my X-Box games. Can someone point me to a site with a guide? If you have made a backup, can you tell me how you did this?

  2. Do you have a modchip or anything installed in the xbox? If not you need one of those first.......then the easiest way to do it is ftp your *legal* rips from your computer to the xbox....

Go to www.ps2ownz.com and sign up for the forums.....then you can go to the xbox section and learn all about it.

  3. or go here: http://www.xbox-scene.com/ It's not that hard once you get the hang of it.

  4. You need a mod-chip, then you can use an app called xFER202 that connects to your xbox dvd drive and copies the files (via ftp) directly into an xiso ready to burn to cd/dvdr

Go to xbox-scene and click on the tutorials section. That site has a whole section dedicated to burning tutorials.

If you mod chip your X-box and have an X-Box live account, you will not be able to play online. Modded dashboards also require a bios hack to work and Microsoft updates the Dashboard constantly to prevent modding of X-Boxes(if you want to play online) and considers back ups illegal.
Just shut up and listen dumbass

My mod-chip has an external switch so I can turn it off and works fine with Xbox-Live.... (Xecuter 2.3b lite)

Which mod chip should I get? Or are they all about the same? I don't care if I have to solder the wires or not.

But the odd thing is, all these folks are saying they're special discs and can't be read by a normal PC, but..... i can see the files on my PC. no one else seems to be able to though. weird.....

My understanding is you need to be networked to your PC, and you play the BU from the PC through the network connection, but you need Phantasy Star online to start the connection.

yeah i read all that and that's fair enough. it's just they're saying you can't burn the discs because they're not DVD discs, they're a propietary format. but surely this isn't true if they can be read by a DVD drive?

That the point they cant be read by a regular dvd-rom drive the correct way.

You have to ftp the disk from your xbox to PC via ethernet to back it up

    Update:
Sorry I reread your posts we switched to gamecube stuff I see.

You can probably see the information but not all of it in the proper format like the dreamcast disk could be read in a dvd rom drive but you couldnt copy the files correctly, but you did get a wav file that said "Dont copy your game disk because this is illegal" but if you copied the dreamcast game using the cable and pc it worked just fine.

haha That's brilliant! be funny if that happened with DVD's too, you just got a clip of Brians' mum saying "he's not a DVD pirate, he's a very naughty boy!"

uuhhhhh i highly recomend to buy a premoded xbox. or IF you do try and do it yourself i highly recomend spending the extra 25 bucks for the clip kit. after that you can just do a disc copy with nero to make backup copies of games you already own.

as far as the chip goes, if you do like going online and ever wanna go online again make sure the chip has a sleeper mode

  18. I spent the extra cash so I could avoid the potential headaches and hold someone(other than myself :P )responsible if something went wrong with it.

Its the other way around, isn't it ? No DVD ROM will read XBOX games.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  23. Maybe but any dvd writer can write Xbox games which are in Xfat format.

Best to buy a premod Xbox, they are about $250+ (depends where you are so I won't say where to buy). TSOP, or softmodded boxes are cheaper but don't have a chip.

GC games can be written to a dvd if you want. You need PS I&II (can't use III) & a BBA & can stream some games from your PC to the GC with a server software (free). No mod chip is out. maxconsole.com for info on that.

FACT: No PC DVD-ROM will read XBOX games as is. There is a mod that can be done to the drive itself to enable this, but it won't be able to read anything else.
    If in doubt, Google it.

I've burned all my games to DVD+R and they work fine. You have to make a xiso then burn the xiso with recordnow max or whatever burning app. There is an app out there, xISO xFER, that will ftp files directly from your xbox dvd drive to an xiso on your pc, it's really easy.

You still need a mod chip though....
