I have a freind who has a JVC GR-DVL915U with i-Link (product link below). It says it has 1394 i-Link. He wants to know how to convert his DV movies to DVD. He has a DVD burner. He has the JVC software. he has Ulead DVD MovieFactory (one). Can someone tell us basically how to convert movies to DVD. I don't think he has a fireware on his MSI/XP2000 computer. So get a IEEE 1394 card for $25? He has a USB conntector but I think thats for pics. Get the firewire card and will Ulead DVD Movie Factory pretty much capture it and send it to DVD ready mpeg to burn to DVD? TIA

In a word, yes. All he needs is an IEEE 1394 (aka, Firewire, i-Link) card, cable to connect the card to the camcorder and some software. The Ulead software will take care of the whole process of transferring the video from camcorder to hard drive, transcoding and burning to DVD (it will also allow him to crop bits out and add menus if he wants).
