    SVCD resolution is 480 x 576 / 480 x480 (PAL/NTSC.) Valid DVD resolutions (from this site) are:

    PAL

    Video:
    Up to 9.8 Mbit/sec MPEG2 or up to 1.856 MBit/sec MPEG1 video
    720 x 576 pixels MPEG2
    704 x 576 pixels MPEG2
352 x 576 pixels MPEG2 (Same as the CVD Standard)
    352 x 288 pixels MPEG2
352 x 288 pixels MPEG1 (Same as the VCD Standard)
    25 fps (frames/second)

    NTSC

    Video:
    Up to 9.8 Mbit/sec MPEG2 or up to 1.856 MBit/sec MPEG1 video
    720 x 480 pixels MPEG2
    704 x 480 pixels MPEG2
352 x 480 pixels MPEG2 (Same as the CVD Standard)
    352 x 240 pixels MPEG2
352 x 240 pixels MPEG1 (Same as the VCD Standard)
    29,97 fps (frames/second)
23,976 fps with 3:2 pulldown = 29,97 playback fps (NTSC Film, this is only supported by MPEG2 video)

Well, you could make your life easier and use SVCD2DVD. Other than that, you need to change the size from 480 X 480 to VCD size of 352 X 240. Also change the audio from 44K to 48K. The spec bitrate for VCD is 1150. Framerate is 29.97 (All NTSC specs) There are guides to the left for more information.

Click on the Guides link (over there <-<-<-) and search SVCD to DVD under format conversion for instructions.

In one method you leave the video as-is and many SVCD capable players will play it, in another you re-encode. 1/2 DVD res is a good choice (352x480) if you go the encoding route.
