I've tried DVD decrypter, Smart Ripper, DVD shrink and even copy/paste as a last resort to backup a DVD. DVD decrypter comes out with an error, DVD shrink and Windows explorer have a Cyclic Redundancy check error, and smart ripper just stalls.
Anyone have *any* workaround for this?

I think I had a problem like that a couple of months ago. I used a different drive to rip the disc. Luckily I have the luxury of two PCs equiped with 3 DVD capable drives to choose from. Maybe your drive doesn't like the disc or perhaps your drive's lens needs cleaning.
You could always check the DVD disc itself for physical damage and greasy finger marks. I always keep dvd wipes handy for such occasions. -
Cyclic Redundancy check error usually means that your data cannot be read and may be corrupted.
As mentioned above some drives are more tolerant than others, but if you have tried this and cleaned the disk, there's not much else you can do.
