  1. Does anyone know if JVC DVD players have problems reading DVDs created by burning?

    I made 2 DVDs:

    1) Capture DV8 via Roxio and encoded and Burned to DVD using Roxio
    2) Created slideshow using mymemoriesontv and burned to DVD using Roxio

1)The first DVD plays on every DVD player Ive tried, including my fathers 2 fairly new JVC units

2)The second one will play on every DVD player (even portables) except for my fathers 2 JVC units (I even made 2 burns, one using Linear PCM and one using mpg 1 layer2). I get an error msg on one player and the other one simply doesnt initiate

So basically, I don't understand how I can burn 2 DVDs using the same media (DVD-R), using the same program (Roxio), but have different results. Is it something due to the process of encoding? (roxio and mymemoriesontv)?

Thanks for any tips, because Im fresh out of ideas

Roxio sucks for dvd burning. Try using NERO burn and use TMPGE to encode.

  3. Get the model numbers from your Dad's Jvc units.

Then, use those model numbers to do a search in the Dvd players section over in the l/h column of this page to see if there is any info on what media they like/dislike..

You can also find out more about the compatability of your brand of disks used by doing a search in the DVD media section.

Lastly, there might be something about that mymemoriesontv app that you used to make the slide show... such as it producing a "slightly" non-compliant file that Roxio let slip thru. As the other poster suggested, try using a different burning app..

    Good luck.
