  1. Hi guys!

I have this avi movie that i like a lot. I like it so much that i'm willing to spend some time to manually make subtitles for it. The problem is that i don't know how.

Is there anybody in this superb forum who can tell me what software i'm going to need, and perhaps a little guide on the subject?

    pretty pleeeeaaaase!!

umm, well for 1 a VERY FAST computer
    Virtual PC with XP Pro
    Sub Station Alpha
    And a shitload of time

You will just want to load the avi's mp3 or wav track into it, and go through typing the subs. For a 30 min TV show, it will take about 10-12 hrs to sub completely. Then you need friends to look through your work, and check for spelling errors, and such.

DVD Studio Pro 2 offers subtitle creation. Don't know how it works though...

Also, Textation X can be used to create subtitles.

I think a wise man once said "VPC solves nothing." I guess he was right.
If it isn't broken, take it apart and find out why.

substation alpha is way easier to use. You just select that audio part, and it creates the timecode for it. Its very, very tedious work.
