  1. When I capture video with my ATI card and play it back I get no sound. Here's some detail on how I'm doing the capture. It's a ATI AIW 9800 Pro and I'm using MMC 8.5. My sound card is Sound Blaster Audigy 2. I'm capturing from Directtv receiver and I have sound fine during the actual footage. I'm capturing to MPEG-2 format. It doesn't matter what player I use to play back the footage, I don't have sound with any of them. I looked at the file properties during playback and it shows the audio portion as using Ligos codecs. I'm not sure what that means.

Any ideas or suggestions on things to check or am I doing something completely wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  2. You may not have had the right audio input selected when doing your capture. You probably need to have had Line-In selected.
No, I'm from Iowa. I only work in outer space.

  3. when MMC is active, it loads its own set of windows audio levels/settings, so you have to change them while the program is on.

either use control panel or doubleclick the yellow speaker icon on the systray, choose "options > properties > recording", and make sure the level is set at about the first tic mark and the box by the input you want is checked.

if you're running the sound to the outside of the sound card, use "line-in", if you're using the internal ATI cable, it's often "aux"

  5. I went back into the TV application and re-run the initialization wizard. It was set to SB Audigy Microphone, so I set it to SB Audigy "What you Hear" and it started working. I didn't see an option for Line In. I am connecting my ATI Card to my Audigy 2 external from the ATI to the LINE IN on the Audigy. I know it's working now, but is this the optimal setup?

I also double checked the creative sound mixer and it was set to "What you Hear" as well. I haven't gotten to the point where I'm burning to DVD yet, and I wanted to get some of the minor issues resolved before I get there.

Thanks to all that responded and any more help or ideas is greatly appreciated. I found some nice info on lordsmurfs site on ATI capture settings and that has really helped also.
