  1. I have a question about the AC3 plugin now available with TDA. In TMPGENC Plus 2.5 you can select as one of the options to encode ES (Audio Only). Can you do the same thing with TDA? I've been looking for a AC3 encoder to reduce the size of my audio on DVD's and increase the quality of the sound. Can this be done with the new TMPGENC DVD Author 1.5? I noticed that the plugin is not compatiable with TMPGENC 2.5.
Any answer on this topic would be great.

Encode your file to mpeg2 as usual in tmpge, but use mp2 for audio. When finished load it up in dvd author and use the ac3 for audio. There ya go. You could use lpcm in tmpge and then convert in dvd author IF you have the newer ac3 1.06, that will work with lpcm. I dont like doing it that way, because you always end up with more unused space that could have gone to the video. Yea, you could tinker around with it, but I always have 3 tv eps that I put on and its a major pain to calculate in lpcm. basically you have to over size your encode, because dvd author will brinbg it back down with the ac3.
Did that make any sense? anyway, use mp2 then use the ac3 in dvd author to change it.

What options do you have when using the TDA plug-in?

    Screen grabs would be lovely

Options with the plug in are pretty basic. If u have an mpeg 2 encoded with LPCM or MP2, then the plug in ac3 1.06 will author the file in AC3. If you have just the 1.02 plug in, then it only lets you take the mp2 down to AC3. You can also test and listen to the audio in the ac3 player.
I like the plug in as I had been using LPCM for compatability issues (hate besweet). Now I use mp2 and let the plug in convert to ac3. Heck, it works so well that I even have a little room left over so I just make my menus a tad bit more fancier.

  6. Is there a way to get just the AC3 sound file out of the plug-in? I want to do a multi-track DVD and really don't want 2 LPCM tracks unless I really have to. I've used IFOEdit & DVD-Lab to get multi-track VOBs but they both have to be LPCM, it won't work having one of them MP2, and I've had problems with besweet generated AC3 files on other DVD players belonging to family members.

Like I said, if you get the 1.06 version then you can convert LPCM to AC3
