Hi!
after weeks of testing it seems that all my problems with subtitling my SVCD comes from the raw MPG, which I exported from NERO.
As it has worked once (!) and the only thing that changed since then is the order of codec (maybe also an additional codec) I wonder what codec would be the right?
My guess is that NERO uses a build-in codec, while WinSubMux uses something from the codecs installed. Thus MUXing seems to work but the player gets confused.
How can find out WHAT codec was used for the one sample that worked?
How can I determine what codec will be used by which software?
How can I get rid of ALL codecs installed and start from scratch (without reinstalling W98)?
Thanks
Matthias

svcd is always mpeg2. this is not a free codec like codes from codec packs like nimo codec pack. mpeg2 is mostly supplied with dvd authoring software, like pinnacle studio etc. sometimes they name it different cos it's implemented differently (e.g. mpeg xs from edit studio), but it's still mpeg2.

Well yes, I was aware of MPG2, but still there seem to be some differences in the codes.

Yes, there are diferences in the codecs.
About uninstalling all MPEG2 codecs, you can try uninstalling all DVD players, mpeg2 authoring etc, Nero, so on. Then do a egistry clean with some software such as RegSupreme or Norton SystemWorks. THen by using Zoom Player or similar kill all associations with MPEG video.
