    OK, I've tried everything and still get MAJOR dropped frames. The only thing I haven't tried is the sound card thing. But what I don't understand is that if I am using a firewire port for DV capture, what difference would it make if I use the onboard sound or a PCI card? (currently using onboard).

    What program are you using to transfer? Are all nonessential programs turned off? Have you tried DVIO?
