  1. I have a DVD that I burned as a VHS master for a video I made. I burned the disc without any menus, but the black "lead" is too short to be able to hit record in time on the VCR.

I need to insert a main menu with just one play button (black screen, black button) so that I can start the DVD manually and I have no idea how. It is way too much work to reconstruct the original DVD and re-author the entire DVD just to insert a menu. Can anybody please help?

This is a list of files on the DVD:
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_3.VOB
    VTS_01_5.VOB
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_2.VOB
    VTS_01_4.VOB

  2. DVD Video discs use a file structure, not a file format (per say) so you have to re-author the disc to add a menu. You can do some using the source VOB files (eg. TMPG Author or DVD Lab can do this).

Both programs have a 30day freeware/preview option so you might want to give them a try. IIRC DVD Lab is a little easier to use.

    No. You must re-encode (re-author).
    If in doubt, Google it.

  5. OK DVD Lab was actually very helpful. What it did on "compile" however was write all of the vob files but didn't write any IFOs or BUPs. Did I do something wrong?
