  1. I searched for my question but couldn't find an answer concerning the software I am using so I will POST it here.

How do you copy movies that are more than one disc to a single DVD using Instant Copy 8 and DVD Decryptor?

I don't care about the menus, DVD content or extras...just the main movie.

For example, LOTR Extended Edition covers 2 discs. How can I get those 2 onto 1 DVD-5?

Thanks to all who reply and a shout out to whoever started up this website. It is fantastic.

  2. Use DVD decrypter to rip the movie to your harddrive, then get DVD Shrink (It is free) to remove the menus etc and shrink the movie to fit, theres plenty of guides to do this here.
To see, one only has to look.
To hear, one only has to listen.

Funny you should ask this mate cause i did that exact back up last week sometime.
    Both discs onto 1 dvdr.
I used DVDDecrypter to rip then DVDshrink 3.0 to reauthor both discs to 1. I removed everything not needed and just left 5.1 sound. I also removed 1 gig of credits from the end of disc 2 (thanks tompika ) which left around 8.4 gig.
49% compression and deep analysis provided a great result playing back through my pioneer 464 on my 32 inch phillips pure flat.
    Good luck.

  4. Well none of this helped me out. I am trying to record sides A and B onto 1 DVD. When I decrypt SIDE B with DVD Decryptor do I put the files into the same directory as the files from Side A? If so do I need to rename them. What do I rename them to?

    Thanks

  6. This can be done in shrink very easily like mentioned above.

Here is a guide to use DVD shrink, http://www.dvdshrink.info/compilation.php

And no, you don't rename anything, and you don't have to put it in the same directory.

If you still want to use the compression of IC8, set your compression settings in DVDShrink to "no compression". This will create a new DVD on your hard drive which you can then shrink down with IC8.

just to note DVDShrink creates 2 titles and some players may show a slight pause when it switches between the 2

I don't know if the chapter skip buttons work either switching from one title to another

    I'd put them to 2 separate folders. Disc1 and Disc2 perhaps ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

  9. Well I thought I had it all figured out. I am trying to copy a flipper (A Time to Kill) onto 1 DVD.

I copied each side using DVD Decryptor into seperate folders. Then I used DVD Shrink and copied the Title 1 from each side into the compilation pane and hit backup. It copied it to a different folder I made.

I then went to my IC 8 and copied the movie. When it was done it only copied Side A.

What did I do wrong. This is starting to urk me. I am pretty computer savy and have made at least 100 DVD's. But never a flipper like this.

Sorry the screenshots look bad. I did it in a hurry.

    Thanks again.

I don't follow. When you import the DVD into IC, after it analyses it then it should have showed the two titles so you could specify the compression settings

The first time I copied with IC I just did the MAIN MOVIE. That's when it only copied SIDE A.

This time I clicked the CUSTOME RESIZE and I see both titles like the screenshot shows. Am I missing a file?

Thanks again. I feel I am SO close.

that looks OK to process as it's got both Titles. At 98% though you may as well of used DVDShrink to compress as there is no way you would see a difference

if its less then just process with IC as it should process both files

  15. It seems like it burned both titles to the one DVD. I could only fast forward to the end of Title 1. That's why I thought it only burned half the DVD. After Title 1 is finished there is about a 5 second pause then Title 2 plays. Is this normal?

    Thanks

yes that's normal and your player must be a little slow when skipping titles as 5 seconds is a long time

you also lose the function of being able to skip through chapters/FF/RW as it's 2 titles which is also what you experienced

maybe you missed it when I mentioned it before

  17. Ok, your saying you have full use of chapters during the movie, but you can't jump the last chapter to Title 2, correct?
    This is normal.
To get around it you would need to insert a chapter at the very end of Title one. TMPGEnc Author is capable of this. I'm not really sure how else to do it.

  18. I can FF and rewind in each TITLE. But I can't advance to TITLE 2 from TITLE 1. I have to wait until T1 is done playing, it will pause for a few seconds and the T2 plays.

No big deal. Mission accomplished. Thanks for all the help.

  19. On my dvd player I can skip titles, you could use that if you have it. It's one of those pop up screens that allow me to choose chapters, audio, angles, subtitles, and titles.
Plus a lot of titles and extras I keep when using DVDshirnk in reauthor mode already have a chapter at the end of each title which eliminates this issues all together.
