i see some dvds have dd 5.1 ex, what exactly is that and how is it different from just dd 5.1?

THX surround ex stands for 6.1 surround sound usually called 6.1 or 7.1 which uses a back surround center channel or a pair of center back speakers,But you need a reciever that can decode the back surround channel. Which in fact sounds alot better than 5.1 on MOST dvds and on all surround ex and dts es also is the same but with dts sountracks..
