  1. Hi all,

Having changed my burner to a Liteon LDW-811S I am finally able to play DVD+R on a very fussy car player using the bitsetting utility. The choice of media does seem to make some difference to the access time in the car.

This may sound like a stupid question but which manafacturer of media should I use? Is it a case of trial and error to find the best?

Any suggestions for good quality media?

    Thanks!

From my experience and many others I know, Ritek dye seems to come up on top...In particular the branded kind.

not another one of these questions!

there is no "best" media. what works for one person might not work for another. you need to try some media, and find one that works good and fits your budget. having said that, i only use Ritek/Ridata discs, and i believe a lot of people on this site do to. i would suggest you try these, you can get them online and they are pretty cheap.

  7. Not necessarily, many agree ritke is good value, but quality wise theres currently better (even since the inconsistency of GO4 in recent months)

i'd not read anything about a 'go4' issue. I'll have a search on that.
all i can say is that out of a good 500 or so, I've never had a problem with a Ritek disc (several coasters - but all my own fault, trying things out)

Best media is Taiyo Yuden DVD-R discs.

They can be bought in bulk from on-lines sites such as RIMA.COM or from retail stores such as BEST BUY on the FUJI label.

Be warned that the only FUJI DVD-R discs that are Taiyo Yuden brand are the packages that say MADE IN JAPAN (which tend to be the 10 packs and some have reported also seeing 5 packs). The bigger 25 and 50 spindle packs say MADE IN TAIWAN and are NOT Taiyo Yuden.

Never had a coaster with that media except for ricoh but it was solved after firmware update.
Everything else has produced some costers except for Princo. U have to burn a truckload of princo media to get 1 good copy
Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach that person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks

Have you noticed that a slight tax increase costs you two hundred dollars and a substantial tax cut saves you thirty cents?
