I have a movie in 2 AVI segments. I want to merge them so make them DVDish.

The problem is the bit rates are different. I know this must be corrected before I can merge the two parts.

How do I correct the bit rates so they match up?

The first part is 1hr 15min. bitrate is: 1166 audio is: 128
The second part is:1hr 31min bit rate is: 924 audio is 128

    Thanks alot.

The only way is to re-encode(which will reduce quality). Virtualdub can do that... load the avi, select and configure your compression, save avi.

If I were you, I would convert each AVI file into MPEG DVD format, using the same TMPGEnc template. Merge both files using Merge & Cut, demux them Simple Demux, and author them (IfoEdit) and burn (Nero).

  4. I was once able to use VirtualDub "Direct Stream Copy" while specifying a new frame rate. I don't remember the specifics, but it can't hurt to try.

The outputted files merged no problem.

Thanks guys. I'll try your suggestions, mess around a bit and see how I get on.
