  1. I really could use some answers to my dts inquirer. I have dvd2svcd 1.0.9 built 3 with Cinema Craft 2.5. I also use Spruceup 1.1 1106 and then i burn my dvd-r with Prassi PrimoDVD 2.0 2.0.767. my home theater is a 600 watt dts decoder as is my jvc dvd player which has dts capabilies. My question is can i get dts sound with the programs that i have on my computer, which has a dvd recorder on it? Please guys I really need some help with this. 3. This is one of the reasons i never liked forums of this nature. If someone doesn't have the answer they say something that they think is cute but its not. Yes i can afford dvd-rw but it also takes time to do the backups of my movies. Please if you can't help me with my Question, dont reply!! Thanks to all of you who DO use this forum for what it is intented.

Amazing. One of my pet peeves is a poster who cries foul because a guru gave him his answer with a little humor thrown in. Wipe your teary eyes little Parky14, and click on Holistics link he gave you. There, there. It's alright...

  5. Sorry, that what I get for trying to think this early in the morning. My apologies to you holistic, I do thank you for your help and to you Tommyknocker for setting me straight. Its just I have all these other programs and was hoping I could just use them. I'm new to all of this and should just listen to those who know more than I do. Thanks guys.

  6. parky14,

Firstly, there is no need for you to apologize.. it takes all "kinds" to make this 'world go round' ... .

I think what you are asking is whether your reauthoring app, Spruceup, can accept DTS files.. ? I don't know the answer to that question, but take a look at Spruceup owner's manual or do a search for "spruceup dts".

My guess is that it does. I have DVDMaestro and it does accept DTS files. I believe Spruceup and Maestro are very similar, if not the same (both Spruceup products, Maestro, formerly..). When reauthoring, just import the DTS file along with any other audio tracks into Spruceup and see what happens..

edit: I may have mis-interpreted your query. If you are asking whether you can actually create a DTS track with what you have, I don't believe so. You'd need something like Surcode to create a DTS track:

  7. Thanks jbenj01 for all of you help.

What I was wondering is if the original dvd has DTS, could i make a dvd-r with DTS with the programs I have? Are there any upgrades to these programs that would allow me too? And if not does anyone know how i can do this? As you all can tell I'm new to alot of this and i know what a pain it can be to try to get someone to understand new stuff. Again thanks jbenj01!!!

  8. The simple/direct answer is, yes, you can have a DTS track on a dvd-r. You would have to demux the DTS track from your original DVD along with whichever other audio tracks you'd like to keep. Keep in mind, though, that DTS is an uncompressed audio file and will take up a lot of space on your DVD-R, thereby, reducing the space/quality for/of your video. I've seen DTS tracks well over 500MB.

I'm not familiar with DVD2SVCD, but I'm sure you can with its 'Rip' feature. I do it manually -- I rip my original DVD to the hard drive with DVDDecrypter, then demux whichever audio tracks I want to keep, using DVD2AVI (you must use v1.77 if you want to demux DTS). Actually, DVDDecrypter can do it too---you must select 'Stream processing' in IFO Mode, then select the audio tracks you want demuxed. Both DVDDecrypter and DVD2AVI are freeware apps that you <---- can download just to the left here under the "OTHER", "Tools" section on this page.

The other factor in your case is that I do not know for certain whether Spruceup, your reauthoring tool, accepts DTS files.. But again, my guess is that, yes, it does. Maybe someone else here can confirm... ? Once reauthored correctly, you will have DVD-compliant files that can be burned to DVD-R. If you have more questions, just ask b/c there's plenty of people here that do this all the time.

DTS is an uncompressed audio file
it is a compressed format - though higher bit rate than AC3 to be sure ..

you need to have a min. of a ac3 track (may be only 2ch) on the dvd if you want also dts .. (to stay within spec) ..
