  1. When you read the instructions on the website on how to update it says you must have the burner connected to secondary master ALONE.

what do they mean ALONE? u cant have another drive on the same channel? I have my DVD-ROM on secondary slave and the burner on master. Will this be a problem?

  2. My LG is master and my lite-on CDRW is slave. Both of them are on the 2nd channel and the LG's firmware has been updated with no probs.
I guess they are just trying to minimize any troubles.
Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach that person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks

Have you noticed that a slight tax increase costs you two hundred dollars and a substantial tax cut saves you thirty cents?

  3. Dont listen to that, its poppycock. Hehe, I've always wanted to say that..POPPYCOCK!

Now getting serious: I have a dvd-ROM as master and my 4040B as slave. Even though they say (in big bold letters, many times) NOT to update while drive is in slave, I've gone through 2 upgrades with no problems.
