  1. Hi, Folks:

    Please offer any assistance that you can for the following error that occurred on my WinXP system during DVD backup operations. I suspect that it relates to my Pioneer DVR-106D DVD-RW drive. I have just successfully completed DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink operations, and I had just reached 100% completion with the IMGTool operation. Here is that message, which appeared alonside a red circle with "X" in it:
    ===============================================
    I/O Error!
    Device: [0:0:0](G)<--- my DVD-RW drive
    CDB: 12 00 00 00 38 00
    Interpretation: Inquiry

    Reason: The specified network resource or device is no longer available.
    ===============================================
    Please note that my system is NOT NETWORKED. Hence, the error points to my DVD-RW drive or something associated with it.

    Your prompt assistance will be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

    Regards,

    Try uninstalling it in device manager and rebooting your pc. Let windows re-detect and install the drive again.

  3. Thanks, saca. . . .
    Don't mean to appear ungrateful, but I tried what you suggested first or second. . . .Got any more ideas.

    Alas, I suspect that this problem requires a "Device Manager Environs Guru." I believe that it relates to the configuration of the ATAPI Controllers(Primary and Secondary) and the Devices there.

    Thanks for your response.

    I wish I had an answer for you. I used to get errors like that when I first got my burner. Before that I was using Adaptec's software to do all my CD burning with and was having all kinds of problems with my newly installed Sony DRU-500a drive so I just got rid of all their software and started using Nero. Haven't had any of them errors since though. Dunno if it was the Adaptec software or not, but it's sure a strange coincidence.
