  1. I just puchased a LiteOn 166s DVD-ROM because so many people rave about it on this forum. Does anyone know which firmware will give me the fastest rip speeds? I'm using ConeDVD and anydvd but only ripping at about 4x,30 minutes on average for a DVD9. I have a P4 2.0 Ghz running winXP Home. I've already checked to make sure DMA was enabled. Also, I've never installed aspii drivers, are they already in windows or do I need to install them?

    Thanks

  2. Have you tried a different ripping prog? (dvd decrypter is free). Sometimes that does the trick.

Maybe the aspi layers has something to do with it but I think you'll be needing them at some point anyways. Someone else here may be able to fill you in on that.

  3. Thanks, I got up to 8x using dvd decrypter, it must be something in CloneDVD slowing it down.

  4. That would be about right for a dual layer disc.

Try a well pressed, commercial single layer disc and you'll notice the rip speed increasing beyond that mark as it approaches the outer rim.
