Yeah, but they have to worry every day that everything they have could be taken away from them (getting busted, killed, etc...). Besides, with mandatory minimums, they often go to prison for very long terms.Originally Posted by Will Hay

People who drive small cars and suck at maneuvering. The parking lot of the apartment that I live in is relatively small. I haven't lived here long, but I can whip is almost blindfolded around the turns. I was following a person in a mini-freaking-cooper the other day. He slowed down to almost zero mph, while taking the turns. You could almost fit two of those in the turn and the guy still had a lot of trouble making the turn.
I kept my distance, because I didn't want to make him go slower, by adding any pressure. Still, I got pretty irritated. -
People who drive in the left lane and aren't passing anyone...really pisses me off!

People that drive on the wrong side of the road!!!

left hand drivers

True, y'all don't rely on OPEC like we do, but hey at least we know when we're addicted -
I am taking about the price of fuel stiltman, not the metric system (and how do you measure your height over there, we still use feet and inches
)
A litre of fuel over here is around 75 pence, thats around $1.40 at the current exchange rate, thats $5.30 for a US gallon. Still think your "gas" is expensive.
And everyone knows the left hand side of the road is the correct side to drive :P

I know you were talking about gas (petrol)Originally Posted by Craig Tucker
Guess you are not old enough to know about the "imperial" system? It was actually really popular over there till the late 70s
Yes I do, I remember when gas (aka pertol) was 25cents a gallon and there was no such thing as OPEC. Every winter OPEC cuts production and raises prices. A US gallon of gas is about $1.80 and that too much, considering we keep the ministers in powerOriginally Posted by Craig Tucker

Just so there's no confusion, stiltman...
Europe drives on the right side of the road except the Brits...
PS: In St Thomas (US) they drive on the left side of the road, but the cars are all US-standard...

I was born in 1970, actually before decimalisation of our money, I grew up with the imperial system. We still use a lot of imperial measurements, we are far from totally metric. eg, we still use stones and pounds to measure our weight, feet and inches to measure our height and miles to measure distance. When I say we I am talking about Jo Public. I am sure the powers that be in Europe would like us to use Kilogrammes Meters and Kilometers, but there is a lot of resistance to it. Shopkeepers have faced being taken to court for refusing to display their groceries weight in Kilogrammes.Originally Posted by stiltman

There was a big push here in the states to move to the metric system. It started in the '70s. While it makes more sense since everything is in units tens, hundreds, etc. instead of 12, 36, 5280 and so on, we are so used to using inches, miles, pounds, the effort failed miserably. Where I work (DOE weapons lab) they tried to force us to use the SI system in the '80s. It failed again. We aren't changing here. It'll always be gallons, miles and pounds here in the colonies
The only major concession I can think of was the US Military giving up the .45 and adopting the 9mm as the official sidearm of the troops, for NATO compatibility reasons. -
Metric system shits all over the imperial system. Like Kevin said above, it makes sense having units in standard forms (tens, hundreds etc) then in differing units.
Then again, when did logic make sense or matter to most people? -
This is so annoying going from the left to the right side of the road when I arrive from Australia in LAX, just be careful, don't get hit by a car or make sure I drive on the right side.Originally Posted by tompika

This is metric to imperial confusion and I wish we have a world standard of measurement. Kilometer or kilometre to miles and differing of English spelling is another confusion.
Another bloody confusion, GAS. Gas here is LPG (liquid Petroleum Gas) and the U.S. gas is another name for petrol.
What are these and what they stand for on NTFS, NTSC and PAL? Check out: http://www.acronymfinder.com/
All the confusion is what I hate.I am a computer and movie addict -

Tell me about it, on Sunday we reached 43° C in the shade at my house with 86%+ humidity levels.Originally Posted by Chriscjgs
