  1. Hi there, I was ripping dvd movies using the dvd shrink 2.3 with no problems. However, when I started using the newer version which was 3.14 (I know there's this 3.15 version out already), the ripping speed went south especially when there's compression involved. I would start to see like 60 hours, 58 hours of "time remaining" when the ripping process is on going. Sometimes it will start ripping at excellent speeds like 1720/kb then later on like around 32%, I will see like 50kb/sec and so on. Then I tried this much newer version which is 3.15 and the same thing happens. So I just deleted those newer versions and went back to 2.3 version.

I'm using WinXP, have 768MB of RAM, P4 2.0Ghz, and 40GB of hard drive. Can anyone tell me as to why this happenning? Or what's causing this problem? Is it only me or anyone else out there in the same boat as me.

    Thanks a lot for any replies/suggestions .

I'm using the latest version or shrink and get close to 4500 kb/s rip without compression and about 1/2 that with compression ( more or less depending on amount of shrinking ) I am ripping from and external DVD / WR usb 2 drive. I saw no difernece between the last four releases of shrink.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

  3. Check to make sure that DMA hasn't been set to PIO mode by windows. Sometimes when it detects errors w/the drive it will go to PIO. Just a thought...
