  1. Hello...
I reauthored a DVD in dvd shrink 3.1, All I put to the new files were the main movie, uncompressed, and the little menu thingy that shows the chapter scenes. I burned it to DVD and when I play on standalone machine, OR my computer video plays great, but the menu of chapter selection just plays through, doesnt stop on those screens, as in it has lost its interactivity...this is the 2nd video I made with DVD shrink and it keeps playing through the menus....why have them on there if I cant use them?

Can I ask a 2nd question? ok, with DVDxCOPY, how come I can edit a movie from backed up files on my computer? it only works when I have a dvd in the tray....it wont let me open/edit ifo files already on my machine..?

    Thanks

DVD Shrink will not keep working menus in re-author mode. If you want to have menus you have to back it up in full disc mode. Just compress the stuff you don't want in still pictures and that should free up some room

Edited, my answer was the same as Matthew's.

  4. Matt, thanks for the quick reply...well, that sucks, it is cool its a free program, but very stupid the menus do not work in reauthor mode, why even have the option of keeping them-stupid (I know not your fault, just venting, haha)

Ok, so anyone have an idea why dvdxcopy will only work with live DVD's in tray, and not my ifo files I have already backed up to computer?

The re-author mode is for making a backup of the movie only or the extra's, why would anybody want the menu and just the film? Just do a full disc backup and delete what you don't need. Have you tried using Clone DVD? That may suit your needs better.

From what I heard Nero Recode is basically uses the same transcoding engine as DVDShrink but it can also allow you to replace video you do not want to keep with a dummy video so that might suit you also.

  7. steveryan, hmm, I thought about it, and I guess you are right, I just was thinking would be cool to fwd to scene selection, but yeah-pretty pointless....but, still odd the funcionality of the menus is taken away
