You'll always lose some quality with lower Bitrates. With some sophisticated VBR settings using tmpgenc, you can get up to 60 min with considreable quality on 1 80 min SVCD. Depends on what you expect as quality of course.

I've always found optimum SVCD to be in the 40-50 minute/disk range. I did 100's of SVCD's before getting a DVDRW. Low action stuff like The Sopranos can be done as 1 episode/disk (times vary from 48 to 58 minutes/ep).

You have to ask yourself if a 105 minute movie is worth 3 disks, and the answer is usually not. But a 120 minute movie usually is.

  4. Or use bigger CDr (if possible) 90 & 99 min Cdr will work happliy in most Dvd players..but your cd burner might not like them.
(99min Cdr avg bitrate about 2000 for a 2hr movie!).
(PM me to buy a 99min capable CDR burner?)
