okay, i have an m2v video file, ac3 audio file, mp2 audio file, and srt subtitles.
i need to multiplex all four files together into one vob and ifoedit seems to be the easiest to do this with. However, I tried it and ran into problems with the subtitles. For some reason they shut off at chapter 3. And, from looking around the forum, seems like ifoedit is crap when it comes to muxing subs.
So what else is there?
ps It would be a pain to have to reauthor and resetup chapter points and navigation, etc. So it'd be great if there was a program for a simple mux with the four files. Like with ifoedit, but without the bugs
Help? Please?
This is the last step in a very long process that gave me a LOT of problems

srt subtitles isn't a format suitable for DVD, so it has to be converted to a format the authoring app understands. In IfoEdits case this is .sup, and fortunately there's a great utility called srt2sup to fix this.
Done this many times with perfect results.
Chapter points are not in the mpegs so regardless of authoring app, there's no way for it to know where you want the chapter points given just elementary streams.
I was starting to write something about software bugs vs user error (I'm a programmer myself), but I decided it'd be best if I didn't...

Actually, the srt2sup method was the one I used. I know there are a lot of conversion tools out there. I only said I had an srt file because that's what I'm starting with.
You're right about the chapter points. I was actually thinking about another problem I had when I wrote that.
User error...well, I used the default settings with srt2sup. I didn't do much besides choose the input file. And in ifoEdit, I selected my four files and hit OK. I don't see much room for error there.
But anyway using srt2sup and multiplexing with ifoEdit, I wasn't as fortunate as you. So, still lookin for something that works. -
I had the same problem. Turned out that I had a small overlap in the subtitles. srt2sup has a feature to check for this problem (Tools->Report Overlap). Subtitles worked great when all the timing was correct.
IfoEdit does seem a little buggy though. The DVDs I've made run in about half the players I have tried. -
2 srt2sup(interesting name): so what are you saying? ifoEdit doesn't create good, matching ifo's?
and muxing wasn't a problem, so much as I couldn't find a program to mux with, other than ifoEdit.
2 Sugar: You can mux audio and video with tmpgenc (and usually that's what I use) but not subtitles, and that was the trick. -
Hi kita,
The reason I use Srt2Sup is I am the author of the Srt2Sup application (and SupRemap) and I try an provide support for my applications (and other problems) on this forum.
With reference to the IFO statement above:
No I was trying to say that anybody thinking of writing a DVD author program like IFOEdit (execpt one that works for NTSC) is going to find it difficult to create an IFO file that matched their remuxed VOB file!
I have thought about using a default IFO and "tweaking" it to match a remux!
Regards

So you're the actual author, eh? That's pretty cool. That you take the time and help people out with your apps. Great program
Actually, tweaking is what I ended up doing.
My source files was a VOB (with IFO) that had one audio track, one vid and subtitles. And then I demuxed, then remuxed with an additional audio track.
I tried to use IFOEdit to make a completely new ifo, but had trouble with the subs like I said above. And then I had issues with the original menu.
So I just ended up going back to the original IFO, and editing it to have a second audio track.
I probably should have just did that right away at first (only I didn't know how at the time!)
