  1. Has anyone in here used this program before ?

Anyway, I have used this program a couple of times to convert Mpegs to DVD's with no problems at all. With very good results. I find the video quality in this program is awesome.
The only Problem I am having though is when I try to convert from a .AVI file to DVD format.

For some reason when I convert this in DVD Architect, the Picture quality is superb, but the sound is WAY out of Synch

And I've tried about 4 or 5 different times now and it's the same everytime. When they talk or make a noise, it's like about a 2-6 second delay I think.

And I have watched the Origianl AVI file (the whole thing) and it's perfect.

And the Movie I am trying to convert is No Retreat No Surrender. Because I can't find it on DVD anywhere.

Anyway, if someone is experienced using this program and might know what I am doing wrong, I'd really love your help as I really want to get this movie working.

I've also tried NTSC picture and PAL, with the same results. Also tried picking each of the Audio's on different occasions to see if this was the problem, but the same results

    Thanks.

PS. If someone would like to talk on MSN and help me with it , it would be greatly appreciated. Here is is anyway : Johnmiceter74@hotmail.com

I use DVDA quite a bit and haven't experienced any sync issues at all.
Are you prepping your files before authoring? You were kinda "lean" on describing your process and the tools you use so I don't know if you're doing something differently than I would do. Don't just dump an AVI file into DVDA.

Here's a quick (read: not detailed) overview of my approach to DVDA...again I don't know what programs you use so just plug in what you have in place of what I use if your setup is different...but this works for me

    1. Encode your edited (if necessary) AVI with Main Concept to get your video and sound files. (make sure you have audio at a DVD compliant 48000khz) I use Premiere for this.

    2. Mux (simple multiplex) the video in TMPGenc with NO SOUND

    3. Convert .wav to AC3 using FFmpegGUI (look in da TOOLS section, it's a freebie and very good)

    4. Import Video and Audio into DVDA

    5. Author

    6. Burn Using Nero

DVDA wants compliant files which are video (not elemental streams) muxed with no audio and an AC3 for sound at 48000khz. If you don't supply these files DVDA will re-encode the files and this takes alot longer and could be the reason for the sync issue. I have no idea how good DVDA is at encoding so I can't speak to it as I have never let it do the encoding.

I'm assuming you have a fairly fast system and a defragged HD too...Let me know if I'm on the right track and I can go into more detail after you get back...or you can PM me.

I have used DVD Architect on many occasions without a problem. However, I do my avi to mpg rendering in Vegas Video prior to using DVD Architect. Therefore Architect only has to make the audio DVD compliant. I assume of course that you have Vegas Video, as the two programs are usually sold as a package.

  4. You's will probably laugh at me, but all's I did was double click the .AVI file and clicked encode the first time

As I done this same thing with a Mpeg and it converted it to Vob files no problems at all.
Burnt it, and played it on my DVD player and Xbox. Worked perfect and the picture quality was good also.

The reason I'm trying DVD ARchitect is because I heard it was very good, but , Very Easy too. And also , one program does it all.

Now I've tried some of the tutorials to convert to DVD format, but I always get stuck on a certain step. Because you have to use so many different programs to get through all the step. And normally one of the programs don't want to work for me

I also tried reading the PDF file instructions that come with it, but it didn't really say how to encode a AVI file, it jsut mentions something if the file is too big, DVD Architect re- encodes it to fit onto a DVDR ?

All's I want to do is Get this movie to be as clear as possible and to get the sound right

I hope I have given enough information to you's now, and hopefully someone can guide me to the simplest but best way to do this and get it right.

OK, you have to convert the AVI to MPEG2. Do you have Vegas? Premiere? TMPGEnc?

You need to do this step 1st. Once you have your MPEG then I guess you can just dump into DVDA and let it do it's thing, but you can also follow the steps I listed in my 1st post if you still aren't getting the desired results. It really isn't that hard. Once you have your MPEG you just need to DeMux it with TMPGEnc to split the video and sound...remux (TMPGEnc) the video with no sound and convert the MP2 to AC-3 and you're set.

Go HERE to see the available apps you need to convert AVI to MPEG2

Let us know how you make out.

the only time ive ever seen this happen is if the avi contains VBR mp3 - then vegas will get out of sync (badly) ..

you have to convert your avi/mp3 to wav (using v-dub or goldwave) first -- before importing , then all is ok ..
