I'm using a PC that has WinXP, 40 gig HD space, 2.4 gig mhz Celeron processor and 256 MB RAM, and am capturing video using a capture card that's connected to a USB 1 port.
The problem I'm having is: in Pinaccle Studio, I can capture clips without any frames being dropped, but the recorded video is jerky and 'laggy' (which is probably a result from the capture preview window being open during recording, but for some reason I can't record clips if I have the 'show preview window when recording' option turned off).
But if I try capturing in any other capturing software, I get dropped frames no matter what codec or resolution I record in, and this is driving me nuts. I can't seem to work out the problem, and this problem happens with any USB capture card I use.
Anyone got any idea what the problem is?
