playing OGM files

I am having a royal pain in the butt trying to play some OGM files. I have tried to follow the guidelines set up, installed all the components required (at least I think I have)

I double click on an ogm file and it will start to play (I am currently using COre media player, but have also tried and had the same problem with windows media player, and BSplay.

The video will start but then stops. I can hear the audio continuing to run, and will make changes if I convert it between english and japanese. But the picture always stops within 8 seconds of starting and just freezes.

Can anyone tell me what I am missing or doing wrong here???

It sounds like a bug with the video decoder. Depending on the codec used (usually Xvid with OGM, but find out for sure with Gspot).

Try installing ffdshow, it will handle the decoding of Xvid files as well as DivX and most other MPEG4 formats.
