  1. C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5 directory?

    i've tried deleting all the files in this folder, but it wont let me delete the index.dat folder & a few other folders.

    whats the use of this folder and why cant i delete all the files/folders in this folder?

    thanks for any help anyone can provide.

  2. it's where your IE temp files go. index.dat indexes the files.
    You should be able to delete everything but that folder and the index file. all subfolders (hidden in most cases) can also be deleted

  3. goto a Dos Box and type "Format C: /x". This will get rid of those pesky folders

    maybe some of the temp net files go there, but the majority of them reside in the;

    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\

    i've got hidden folder viewing on, but it still wont display the Content.IE5 folder within it.

    what gives?
