  1. I was wondering if anyone else out there had trouble sleeping. These days, no matter how hard I work, I still can't get to sleep. So I was wondering if anyone out there could give me some tips on how to get a good nights sleep. Whether that be medicine, or a particular exercise...anything so that I can get some shut eye!!

After having a good meal of eatin' beaver (I 'specially like my beavers grilled!), I put in those foam ear plugs to block out all the extraneous noise that would wake me up at night. They did the job for me.

  3. Do an all nighter then stay up the next day till your normal time to go to bed. Then wake up again at your regular time.

Make sure your bedroom is quiet and dark.

Stay away from things like coffee.

Only use your bed for sleeping in (well that one other thing ).

Write out a list of things that you need to do the next day etc so that your mind is thinking about things.

  4. The problem with that is I have Tinitus. Tinitus is when you can hear little sounds, liking the humming of a computer, even when your PC isnt on...it sucks...so I have to put on music or something to distract me from that.

  5. Did some research on WebMD.com and came up with this, it includes some of my above suggestions:

you'll drop off in seconds just make sure you eat the curry at the very last moment, just before you go up the hill.
Not allowed to do this anymore, my wife has put me on a diet, but now i'm having trouble sleeping

Join the club, brother. I leave the A/C fan on. I'm going to start looking into phase masking for that soon, too. I ususally read in bed until I can't keep my eyes open, then go to sleep.

If pacmania's suggestions dont work for you, try currymans. Indian food is really heavy on the stomach and puts me right to sleep.

  11. Interesting that you say no matter how hard you work, you can't get to sleep. Perhaps you are working too hard? The stress will keep you up. I always find that when I've got a lot on during a day it takes me a while to sleep.

Try taking it more easy, resting during the day (not sleeping, just chilling) and see how you feel after a couple of days.

    Good luck!

I've never had trouble sleeping. I can sleep at any time, any where, no matter what.

  15. Stiltman,

After sex, your body releases chemicals that make you want to sleep. Hence, no talking after sex.

Well it's at least nice to know what it is called. I'm with you there brother. I can sleep but I usually sleep from 3:00 am to 6:00 am. 3 hours tops. I always blamed it on me working 3rd shift for so long back in the day.

Like I said I can sleep, but I can't sleep in a silent environment. I have a fan running all night and I watch TV until I eventually fall asleep. If the room is quiet...I can't sleep at all...which is a problem because my wife wants to room cemetary quiet.

Some things that will help you sleep is my old friend Jack....maybe you know him, he's only about 12 inches Tall....Last name Daniels. Or another friend of mine named Jim Beam...he hangs out with coke quite a bit.

Did I see some one say sex? To help you sleep? Good one, so what do us 15-20 year married folks do on the other 360 nights of the year?

Seriously though, sex does work but wives tend to get upset about a 7 day a week schedules, plus any time during the day I want to take a nap ...the fan and TV work for me...but hey, I sleep 3 hours a night if I'm lucky and what sucks is if I do go to sleep at 11:00, I am wide awake at 2:00.

  18. I can sleep anywhere - with planes seeming to be the perfect place, I remember my mates talking about how bad our flight from Vegas to New York was, then turning to me and explaining how I was already asleep when the plane was still on the runway

I have it too. Mine is a high pitch constant whine around 4-5kHz. Unfortunately, it's there all the time, but you learn to "tune it out". For me, ear plugs help to block out "everything else".

I tried that a few years ago. It was suppose to take effect after a few weeks of constant use, but it did nothing for me.

Personally, I have to have a fan running all the time...osolating fan, ceiling fan, floor fam, central air fan...etc it doesn't matter as long as the fan is running. If that doesn't work. Sex always does

I need noise too, also tenitis, but the fan, space heater or air purifier works great.

Take a couple ADVIL or TYLENOL, it will knock you out, just don't get addicted or use on a regular basis. Not the same as sleeping pills.

I find watching funny cartoons or reading comics (or Readers Digest shorts) does good. Does not make you think, decent last-minute entertainment.

  26. I can't sleep without a fan running, a cold bed, and heavy blankets on top of me.

And I married a woman who thinks driving with the windows down in Phoenix is refreshing. In July.

Anybody remember that Buick commercial? "He's comfortable in Eastern Siberia in January. She prefers the core of a thermonuclear explosion. No problem!"

You know anything about phase masking (?) I'm going to be looking into this soon. Something about using the reverse phase of a sound to mask another sound (?)

  28. What is tylenol actually meant for? I remember being on holiday in America and getting the flu not once but twice. I was ill for 10 out of 14 days. I ran out of ibuprofen and paracetamol, and all I could get a hold of was aspirin or tylenol. It just made me feel worse.....

Is it true that you can't buy anything stronger without prescription in the USA, or is that rubbish? In the UK, the strongest painkiller available over the counter has codeine in it, which is metabolised to morphine in the body. Needless to say, it kills pain pretty effectively.

    Just wondering...

  29. There are several good pain killers in Canada (I am sure its the same for America) You can get something called Tylenol 2 which is very strong, and I believe Tylenol 3 is also available without a perscription, but I havent been back in a while so I am not sure. In Japan, the strongest PERSCRIPTION drug they can give me is equal to that of over the counter stuff in America...needless to say, I get my family to ship over my medicine.
