  1. Hi,

Whenever I complete my editing using Ulead 7, I get to the burn disk option, thats fine and I create all my titles etc, but when it sayd 'converting video files' it freezes my PC at 65 - 70% everytime. The other thing to note is that when playing a DVD through my PC, it will freeze the machine anywhere in the film, at different locations everytime. I have XP with a Pentium 4 2.6 GHZ with 512 Ram and a 128Mb Graphics, hardware shouldnt be a problem, it happens when using Windows Media, Power DVD or any U lead application. My Pc never locks up ever, only when video editing or playing any Video file. Is there any hope??

    Please help!

Could be a hardware problem. Video conversion makes the computer work hard and components that are not 100% will crap out when they start to heat up. I'd start by swapping the ram, then cpu, power supply and motherboard.

  3. Try closeing any crap running in the background, Antivirus, Messengers, .... Do a Ctrl-Alt-Del to get to the Task Manager and see what processes are running and what your CPU usage is.

Try searching Google forums for this problem. It looks like out of memory type error (windows overflows buffer and you are done). XPis good with memory management so my guess would be rather app. Select some (that give you trouble) and try reinstallation. Wrong path in the registry would do the same (same remedy). Clean temp dirs as well.

  5. Hi There and thanks for all your replies, I have removed virtually everything running in the background and when I started rendering I actually got to 94% before she locked up on me. I was so angry

Anyway, I con't see that its a hardware fault, it runs demanding games fine, so why does it lock up when watching a 2Mb Mpeg file using Media Player, surely thats not demanding or enough to heat my processor til its white hot?

I feel a format and fresh install coming on.

    Yey.
