  1. I am trying to burn 6 different mpeg videos to one DVD. Ulead MF2 (version 2.1 upgrade) says it is 3.4 gig total size which fits fine on a DVD. When I view the dvd after it is burned, the last 5 minutes or so of each of the mpegs has audio and video out of sync. The mpegs were created in a different software, but I did match the setting of the mpeg files with the settings of Ulead. Bit rates are the same, etc. I also checked the box DO NOT CONVERT COMPLIANT FILES.

Authoring still seems to take a long time, even though I don't think it is re-encoding.

Everything is in sync before I start the authoring with Ulead.

Anyone got any suggestions? Need some help syncing the A/V.

You do not mention wether the files are in sync prior to combining or wether ulead re-encoded. Did you have the box "do not render compliant mpg" checked?

AFIK, ulead default uses frame A field and files with differnt field order, if full re-encoded, can be out of sync. If the box is checked and only a smart render is done, this is not supposed to occur

  3. Separate mpeg's are in sync before burning wiht Ulead. They were created with Win TV PVR usb 2 external capture device off of TV. They were encoded to mpeg "on the fly" and saved as mpeg by the software that came with that device.

I did make sure all files were set the same as Ulead software, and I checked the box, do not render compliant mpg.

I can't give the tech explainations but mpg played on pc may play in sync due to some techy thing, however they are not really in sync.

If you have rw media burn the seperate file(s) to verify each in in sync

check properties of clips, look for field order.
smart render is supposed to be relatively quick vs hrs for re-encode

    from another post-not quated
first vid added to timeline sets (overrides) project settings even if you change it.

  5. You didn't mention how you obtained your source MPEG videos.

    (How did you obtain them?)

Some analog video capture devices drop frames.

If your source material has some dropped frames, then it can exhibit seemingly perfect video/audio synchronization.

Following the video/audio multiplexing stage, however, the loss of video/audio synchronization can become apparent.

  6. I captured the mpegs with a Wintv pvr2 and it encodes to mpg when it captures. Captured off of television

  7. I suspect the problem may indeed be dropped frames.

    Recommendation:

Have a look at timebase correctors/frame synchronizers.

These can work wonders for analog capture devices.

Newer MPEG capture cards are actually being marketed now with frame synchronization and timebase correction included.

    One example:

    Canopus MVRD2200

    The downside is the cost.
