  1. hi everyone, i have a dvd that i am copying but the main audio track is an lpcm track that is 1.3 gig. I want to take that track and change it to DD to save space.I know how to rip the sound from the main movie and change the format but how would i replace the original with the new smaller track?

  2. As I see you're trying to change the format of the audio stream of your dvd movie.

First you have to de-multiplex the movie. For audio convertion procedure you can use BeSweet. But after that you have to control the length of the audio stream because the convertion procedure changes the speed (and the duration) of the audio. You can fix it with a audio editor.
After that you have to re-author the dvd. TMPGEnc DVD Author is a good tool that alow you to use as video source a DVD Video (from your dvd movie) and as audio source one of the audio strems of your movie OR an external audio file (must be in compattible format; mpg mp2, mpa, ac3 etc.)

    Enjoy!

    Why would you say this?

    Wrong.
Done correctly Besweet will NOT change the length of the audio. It only does this if you deliberatley (or accidentally!) select one of the frame rate adjustment pre-sets.

  5. why would i have to use an author program? if i changed the audio for each .vob file couldn't i place them back in the original folder and then use them like original files and use dvd-shrink?

An authoring program is the only way of recreating the vob files. Re-multiplexing the new audio with the video will produce an mpeg program stream or system stream which is diferent from .vob format.
