  1. I had a weird error trying to back up Tomb Raider 2 earlier, when I try to open the disc I get the error:-

DVD shrink encountered an error and cannot continue

    Failed to read file "D:\"

Copy Protection error - The read failed because the sector is encrypted

I've never seen this before. I installed AnyDVD (which removes the encryption) and DVD Shrink then worked fine but I didn't think I needed anything like AnyDVD running and haven't needed it in the past.

    Any ideas? New copy protection?

    Cheers

try first ripping it to your harddrive with DVD Decryptor and then use Shrink on that. If that doesn't work, make sure you the disk is clean.

  3. easy solution...
use DVD Decrypter to rip instead of Shrink.

  4. Fair comments but still doesn't explain why I get the error message, is there a reason DVD Shrink can't cope with it but dvd decrypter can?

  5. have to laff... turns out this was cos my dvd drive region code was set to 1 and it was a region 2 disc. Weird error message to throw out though! I'll just leave anydvd running from now on I think!
